| Allan Zeman – prominent business leader, long-time Hong Kong resident and Chinese citizen – discussed his views on the political, economic and commercial future of Hong Kong. Among the topics he address were the prospects for the new administration of Carrie Lam and its likely relations with the central government in Beijing, the significance of the 20th anniversary of the handover of the territory by the UK in 1997, and the business climate in Asia. He also answered any questions that members of the audience care to throw at him.
Mr. Zeman is Chairman of Lan Kwai Fong Group, a major property owner and developer in Hong Kong’s Lan Kwai Fong area. The Group in recent years, has expanded to various cities in China including Chengdu, Haikou, Wuxi and Shanghai. He serves as an independent non-executive director of Sino Land Company Limited, Tsim Sha Tsui Properties Limited, Global Brands Group, Television Broadcasts Limited (“TVB”) and Pacific Century Premium Developments Limited. He is also the Non-Executive Vice Chairman of Wynn Macau Limited, a gaming operator in the U.S.A. and Macau. Having lived in Hong Kong for over 45 years, Dr. Zeman was the Chairman of Ocean Park from 2003 to 2014 and is now the Park’s Honorary Advisor. In 2015 January, Dr. Zeman was appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR Government to be a Representative of Hong Kong China to the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC). Dr Zeman has been a holder of Chinese Nationality since 2008.
