Join this exclusive FCC Zoom discussion with Joseph Stiglitz, a professor at Columbia University, author and a Nobel laureate in economics. He will discuss his views on a number of policy and political issues including the economic fallout from COVID-19, how he views the legacy of the Trump administration, the state of globalization and the prospects of China’s economy. One of the most respected economists in the world, he has recently condemned President Trump’s protectionism as “ugliness” and worries that populist authoritarian figures are seizing the pandemic crisis to strengthen their positions and weaken democracy. Moderated by FCC President, Jodi Schneider.
Joseph Stiglitz is University Professor at Columbia University and was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 2001. He has served as senior vice president and chief economist of the World Bank and as chairman of the U.S. president’s Council of Economic Advisers. In 2000, he founded the Initiative for Policy Dialogue, a think tank on international development based at Columbia University. His most recent books include Rewriting the Rules of the European Economy; People, Power, and Profits: Progressive Capitalism for an Age of Discontent; and Globalization and Its Discontents Revisited.
