CNN anchor and chief media correspondent Brian Stelter returns to the Foreign Correspondents’ Club, Hong Kong via Zoom to talk about the aftermath of the Donald Trump presidency, Fox News, and the so-called “Big Lie” – the mistaken belief that the U.S. presidential election was stolen from the Republican incumbent. Stelter shares his latest assessment of American politics and right-wing media from the new and expanded paperback edition of his book Hoax: Donald Trump, Fox News, and the Dangerous Distortion of Truth. The latest edition of his book explores the final months of the Trump administration, the rise of Fox personality Tucker Carlson, the U.S. Capitol riot, the emergence of new conservative media outlets, and the impact of lingering false claims of voter fraud. Moderated by FCC Correspondent Governor Eric Wishart.
Brian Stelter is the anchor of Reliable Sources, which examines the week’s top media stories every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. ET on CNN/U.S, and the chief media correspondent for CNN Worldwide. Stelter reports for CNN Business, and writes a nightly e-newsletter. Prior to joining CNN in November 2013, Stelter was a media reporter at The New York Times. Starting in 2007, he covered television and digital media for the Business Day and Arts section of the newspaper. He was also a lead contributor to the “Media Decoder” blog.
