FCC club lunch with Larry LIPSHER
Speaker: Larry LIPSHER
An American C.P.A
Topic: The IRS – more invasive than ever for U.S. Expats?
The Offshore voluntary disclosure initiative, introduced on February 8 and running through August 31, is taxation’s version of a venus fly trap, if ever there was one! People are obviously very upset, to say the least, by the “witch hunt” that theirs has undertaken, with excessively heavy penalties imposed on all U.S. tax filers, both American citizens and green card holders.
This talk will review how we got to the point we are now at, summarizing FBAR and FATCA, next year’s New Form 8938 and the new OVDI II as well as present some interesting alternatives that tax filers just might be unaware of.
Long term FCC member Larry LIPSHER has been writing the twice monthly “Asian Tax Review” for tax analysts, Washington D.C. for the past 8 years. This is the 45th consecutive year that Larry has been preparing U.S. tax returns — and he proudly claims that this has not yet given him any brain damage!
