Topic: Hong Kong’s Education: Progressing on Strengths
As the new Secretary for Education, Mr NG will present a summary of milestones in Hong Kong’s education reform and his strategic vision for education in Hong Kong in the next five years, particularly in the areas of developing Hong Kong as a regional education hub, enhancing Hong Kong students’ competitiveness in the world, introducing the 3-year “free” kindergarten education and implementing the New Academic Structure. Mr NG will also share his reflection on Moral and National Education.
Mr. NG has been Hong Kong’s Secretary for Education since 1 July 2012. He had been the Chairman of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) since September 2009. He was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star in 2011. Mr NG has an extensive background in human resources management, having experience at multinationals including Macquarie Securities Asia, JPMorgan Chase, Jardine Fleming, Lucent Technologies, AT&T, Citibank and Motorola. He has also served as president of several professional associations, including the HKIHRM, the Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resource Management and the World Federation of Personnel Management Associations.
