FCC club lunch with Tony WHEELER
Date: 8 Nov 2012 01:00 PM — 02:00 PM | Venue:
Speaker: Tony WHEELER
Co-Founder, The Lonely Planet Publications
Topic: Shoestring Travel: Is it sustainable today?
Does shoestring travel still exist in today’s hyper-organised, internet booked, environment? It’s been nearly 40 years since Tony WHEELER took off on the trip which led to Lonely Planet’s “South-East Asia on a Shoestring.” But he believes that shoestring travel is still available to anyone searching for adventure.
Tony WHEELER is the creator of Lonely Planet Publications. He has not stopped travelling after selling the business to BBC. In the past year he’s climbed volcanoes in the Congo and tracked down the wreckage of Admiral Yamamoto’s Betty bomber in the jungles of Papua New Guinea.
